Joanne Tod: Oh, Canada – A Lament

Joanne Tod presents Oh, Canada – A Lament, an installation of paintings at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in a special feature exhibition. For the past two years, Tod has committed to painting the portraits of fallen Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan. The paintings are interspersed with other painted panels to resemble a fragmented Canadian flag. As the war continues, the dimensions of this work will continue to expand, reflecting the uncertainty of the Afghan mission with respect to its duration and final number of casualties. Tod has painted numerous portraits of prominent Canadian figures.
